If hes going to switch, he has to cause the Dems some pain when he does it. He cant just support the Dems for the first two years, give them the wins they want (like a SC Justice, the BIF and the Covid package), and then switch if the Repubs win the Senate. That gives the Repubs nothing but another vote, which they dont need because they cant pass anything anyway with Biden as Pres.
Basically if hes going to do it, he has to do it very soon.

(15,223 posts)If he does, he will be an Independent. If he became a Republican, he knows he would be put into line in a heartbeat as Repukes dont tolerate disloyalty. He likes being the cause of the discord and getting press about it.
