I had my BMT on Monday and all went well. They call that day zero. Today I am 2 days old.

(14,532 posts)I tire easily though. It was a cool process to watch.
The reason they say day 0, day 1, day 2 is because I have the immune system of a newborn.

Still don't understand how you can donate to yourself, but what do I know.
Wishing you a speedy and successful recovery!

(14,532 posts)They pretty much run your blood through a centrifuge and extract the stem cells and returning the blood to the body. They then take that and clean it up somehow so only good stem cells are left. Which they freeze until I am ready to transplant.

(14,532 posts)A little nausea but meds handle that. I can't wait until I can go full throttle.
How are you doing?
ancianita
(36,066 posts)The short answer is I'm doing okay.
The longer answer is that I just lost my husband of 35 years (on MLK Day) -- with all the whirlwind of emotions and activity that have overwhelmed me -- but my adult children's and family's love, work and support have been MAGNIFICENT.
Because of them, my life has been easier, and I think I'll be able to find a new way now.
Thank you for asking, mercuryblues.

My husband received a kidney. Transplants = gift of life.
Rest, heal, and let your new youth run wild. After you rested and healed, of course
