Does anyone know of a really free reverse phone lookup? Every site I've tried CLAIMS they are free, but they aren't
I get 3 or 4 CALLS A DAY from some number claiming to be from Raytheon. Of course the numbers sometimes change from call to call, but some of them remain the same.
Yes, I've got this number on "Do Not Call", but that might as well be "I'll Call You Whenever I Want To".
It's driving me nuts.

(13,926 posts)that when they call and there is no answer "they" think it's a dead # and "their" AI software kicks it out... YMMV

(1,706 posts)It seems to be working. I do not answer numbers I don't know. If it is important they will leave a message, For a long time I had the ringer off on my phone so as not to be disturbed. I can now turn it on again, it has been quiet. The problem is the ones that use other peoples numbers, you can do nothing about them but repeat numbers texts seem to work. Never answer unless you know the number or are expecting a call. They give up after a while.

(17,702 posts)I wait and let them leave their number and if the message is from no one I know then I block the number. I recommend it

(30,613 posts)I think my land line provider has a web page to do it, as well.
"Do not call" is a joke. You need to block the numbers with your provider.

(15,325 posts)If they're legit they'll leave a mssg before they get blocked.
Otherwise, don't waste my time.

(30,613 posts)I'd still keep blocking away though. I believe providers keep track of what's being blocked and look for patterns. That's why many of these calls say "SPAM?" on the caller ID. I suspect others just get disconnected entirely.

As far as a free look up, I just enter the # into google, if Im interested.

(17,459 posts)They spoof phone numbers that belong to others.
If you are talking about a landline. Get an answering machine. Turn your ringer off. If it is anything important, they'll leave a message. Check your answering machine a few times a day. Keep the volume on your answering machine off or almost off until you physically check for any messages.
If it's your cell phone, don't answer any numbers that are not in your contacts. Let it go to voicemail.
I sometimes get over 20 spoofed spam calls on my landline per day. No messages are left. I can tell by scrolling through my call log.

(2,769 posts)I like your idea. I will try it.
