A kid asks Paul Ryan what he's going to do to get people some real jobs, and Ryan's response: "Want some candy?"

(5,444 posts)This is a foretaste of a Romney/Ryan administration. The young man was sincere, articulate, asking politely. Ryan's response was F OFF.

(13,776 posts)It's a photo op and Ryan is acting like the kid's being inappropriate by asking someone who's running for VP a valid question. Also, he's like Romney in that he's barely concealing his anger (although I guess since it's apparent, he's not "barely" concealing it at all).
That really does make him look very bad.

(8,854 posts)...that clip was so bad that I actually put my face up to the screen to see if it was some sort of parody video with a Ryan lookalike. The whole thing just oozed awfulness, from Ryan and from his blond, bland Stepford wife. Truly sickening.

(9,992 posts)Ryan is not only a nasty prick but he has NO idea how to have a discussion with someone who isn't in lock-step with him.
And his vile Stepford wife just stands there grinning like a department store mannequin.
We CANNOT let that disgusting couple represent this country!

(31,849 posts)was clearly one of: "If this F'ing camera wasn't rolling I'd use my Extreme Works and Finely chiseled abs to kick your a$$. " Or, "Teacher, Teacher ... this man is bothering meeeee! "
Neither response is what I seek in a politician.

(13,362 posts)I should know better than to actually WATCH these clips, I can't stand Ryan's smarmy ass attitude and his refusal to talk to people about REAL problems... I don't care if he was getting ready for a 'photo op' he has NO compassion for others and no sense of propriety.
Isn't it fucked up that when the cameras are off and they don't have things memorized to say, they get angry and try to ignore people... but turn ON the lights and cameras and give them some talking points and all of a sudden, they spin these stories of people they run into that have it so tough and they feel SOOOOO sorry for...
I am never watching a clip of Rmoney/Ryan EVER again...after the Election, they will be GONE.....

"Here, have some candy and STFU"
Janna Little looks like a Stepford candidate with a fake smile plastered on an irritated face. Creepy.
And the paraders are wearing "Ryan" shirts. Is this from Labor Day during his Wisconsin race a couple of years back, or was he there to campaign for his House seat specifically this past Labor Day? Isn't that a little odd?
EDIT / meant to say "Stepford candidate wife".

Almost ALL of the Republicans these days have this blank, creepy, million-mile stare. It makes you wonder what is it they are serving them at the RNC meetings!

(100,099 posts)They're absolute narcissists! They don't give a shit about anyone or anything but the almighty dollar. And their response to a jobs question from a kid is "want some candy?". That's 1% arrogance on display in it's finest form. Fuck these people - these monsters are going to completely annihilate what's left of our government.

(1,370 posts)Do Mormon men get to name their own planets? Did Romney make a deal with Ryan, like he gets to pick a sub-title for the planet? How many wives does Ryan get on the planet? Will lady Stepford there spend eternity perpetually pregnant too?

(12,530 posts)The GOP needs a hero so badly that they put this guy's face front and center, made him their "great white hope", and consider him to be the modern-day Don Draper. But he can't answer the question of a teenager; all he could do was to flee. What does this say about Ryan's constituency? Well, it says that a bright teenager has more on the ball than they do, and that they're none too bright. I'm never surprised when a charlatan like Ryan seeks more power. But I did used to be surprised when so many willful idiots would buy what the charlatans were selling.

The stupidity of the way they handle things is astonishing. A GOOD crooked politician is better at it.

Why don't Republican voters demand the same thing? Ryan's failure to face the young man, answer his question, and respond courteously...even if I were a Republican, THAT would bother me!

Ryan and his wife are total losers and without human compassion or a fucking clue. "we're all here to have a good time." Yeah, like the kid said, it's labor day, answer the question!

(3,239 posts)I was watching the crowd on the street (the ones who were not part of the protest group). Am I correct that most of the people watching the parade were not clapping when Ryan walked by? There were a few that clapped and waved, but most were silent.
