Élysée says tonight that in back to back calls, Macron proposed a summit between Biden and Putin. Presidents BIDEN and PUTIN have both accepted the principle of such a summit, their readout says.

(11,257 posts)I get that Putin wouldn't need to invade invade Ukraine if Trump was still acting as Russia's proxy in pushing back against Ukraine's integration into NATO and the Western Bloc more generally, but obviously that's just as terrifying a prospect.

(182,826 posts)our relationship with NATO was strained BY Trump. It doesnt take much to figure out why.
This kind of operation takes a while to get ready. Putin was already working on it before the election Im sure.

(2,256 posts)I never gave much thought to Putin before the era of Trump. He's ruthless dictator and Trump admires him, which confirms Trump's idea of making America great.
But listening to analysis after analysis of Putin's motives with Ukraine, there's no good outcome for him in attacking Ukraine and yet, he appears determined to attack Ukraine just because he wants Ukraine. If the world gave him Ukraine, would it end there? I doubt it.

(2,256 posts)An MSNBC pundit said Putin isn't a Hitler because his objective isn't the same. Putin isn't trying to take over the world. According to this guy, Michael Mc Faul, Putin wants to be remembered as the guy who restored Russia back to a greatness.
