No more Olympics :(

I'm sad because I really enjoy them.
What was your favorite moment from the Olympics?

Mine was went Lindsey Jacobellis and Nick Baumgartner won gold for the mixed team snow board cross. I also really liked Nathan Chen's performances.

emotional when Lindsey crossed the line in first, and Nick was overwhelmed with emotion!

I want to also add that the sportsmanship amongst the boarders and freestyle skiers in particular was incredibly heartwarming! Went well beyond national boundaries, and something that stood in stark contrast to what we saw in the Russian figure skating stable.

Jessie Diggins winning that final medal for the U.S. was pretty incredible. Anyone who's participated in an endurance sport at even the most basic level, could see how she was suffering as she approached the finish line. It wasn't until later that we found she had dealt with an onset of food poisoning the previous day, which had to be brutal on her system, just hours before having to ski a marathon.

Very encouraged to see that the next three games will take place in thriving democracies - 2024 in Paris, 2026 in Milan-Cortina, and 2028 in Los Angeles. Okay, fingers crossed on that last one.

The fireworks were the most underwhelming part of it. I expected a heck of a lot more of them, given that's the country that invented fireworks.

I enjoyed the snowboading and "big air" skiing, too. I had hoped to see more hockey, but most of it was on cable, which I don't have, or at weird hours. Very disappointing.

I find them more enjoyable, in part, because they don't seem to be tainted by the kinds of scandals we see in the regular Olympics. And, it's cool to see the ways people adapt in order to participate in the various sports.

Sled hockey is a blast!

The Chinese skating pair was amazing.
Our 30 k cross country skier Diggins who won a Silver today said she had food poisoning 3 hours before.

Going back to commercials - suddenly today NBC’s Peacock started ads for all their original content. Some interesting stuff but why wasn’t that on throughout the coverage?

Feels weird when it is finally done.

I like being able to tune in via the website and watch anything at any time, rather than the old days of waiting for Bob Costas (nothing against Bob himself) in prime-time with a curated, tape-delay experience.

Overall it is also nice to see that everything isn't separated by a "1st place and everyone else loses" mindset that sometimes permeates American sports. The Germans, Austrians, Finns, etc...all excel in small areas with no expectations of winni9ng the overall medal count. Some countries are thrilled just to land an athlete in the top 10. It is fun to witness.

But the inane voiceover narration was a huge distraction, especially when she talked over the experienced commentators. Finally just muted it, darned shame since the music is part of the enjoyment. Here's hoping they don't continue that irritant.

When she seemed to have it in the bag but then hotdogged by doing a method air and fell? She's been working to make up for that ever did. I'm so glad she was able to finally win gold!

I did like the curling, bobsled, and speed skating.
