Not an ounce of nuance.

(3,816 posts)The news is there for the reading all over the internet. With a aggregator site like DU it's a cinch.
Anything that requires video is also available unedited.
Programed news is a dinosaur that no longer has any real value.

(42,334 posts)several years ago when his show was at 4 p.m. and I was teaching a 5 p.m. water aerobics class at the Y 30 minutes away.
It was during TFG's regime but after Dems took control of the House. Remember when the House passed hundreds of bills and they just sat on McConnell's desk.
I heard Todd asking his panel: "What has Pelosi done as Speaker?" He then added: "and don't tell me about all the bills she got passed because they are going nowhere so they don't count."
Turned to CNN right then and have rarely listened to MSNBC since.

(15,333 posts)As I have said about Chuck, he should be responsible for nothing but reporting obituaries in some Godforesaken 'Murikan shithole.
It would go like this:
"Gertrude Alflin, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep. Some say she was a woman of tremendous faith, attending church every morning. Others say that she was really a cruel woman who hated her family. Reports are that she became more of a homebody when the love of her life, Bernard, passed away several years ago, although some have questioned her whereabouts at the time of his death. In lieu of flowers, the family have asked that you play a Bingo Card in her honor at the Tuesday Afternoon VFW Post Bingo Game, but some people say that this would only encourage gambling.
She'll be laid to rest at Shady Grove Cemetery and Drive-Thru on Monday, although some have said it will be Wednesday."
"Back to you Andrea..."

Seriously, the only thing thats going to cause him to leave is the loss of his audience. And with the number of people here who apparently watch in order to report how bad he is

Are there others you would be willing to identify as such? Im curious.
As an experienced journalist, perhaps you have a perspective that will shed some light on why this individual who reads as such a lightweight is given such power.
I havent thought much recently about how to articulate my own criteria and journalistic stars. Certainly I dont expect them to have no ethical core and no political beliefs, but they need to be truthful and willing to rigorously explore facts and conclusions. I view Rachel Maddow as the high point and Hannity as the lowest, more of a propagandist. Bending with the winds and contorting to fit a political narrative that suits their bosses economic advantage is a deal-breaker. Vacuous both-siderism and a regular habit of drawing false equivalences, same. Willingness to hear out people who dont agree with you and working to reason together, holding what is right more valuable than who is right are important.
Curious to learn your take.

(9,373 posts)I think there are some good examples here of his insights. He does a good job as a journalist of eeking out the facts. Which is what he should be doing. There's no underlying agenda here like on that Fake station.
And this panel discussion that Todd leads brings out a lot of good information.

(11,631 posts)Its impossible really to tell if he has any skin in the game politically because he is so incomparably bad at what he does. Watching GOP liars take him for a ride while he thinks he's somehow asking tough questions is absolutely nauseating.

Or have gone to one hell of a high school to get an education on his own on reasoning, logical fallacies and journalism, especially the core principles and ethics.
Are you sure thats true? Not implying you arent telling the truth, just trying to discern the truth. Ironically.
