European nations are speeding up efforts to reduce their reliance on Russia for natural gas. They are seeking to boost energy security amid rising tensions surrounding Ukraine.
The number of vessels carrying liquefied natural gas has been increasing since mid-December last year in the Dutch port of Rotterdam, one of EU's largest ports. About 60 LNG tankers have entered the port in the past two months, which is already about half of last year's total.
On Tuesday, tankers from Egypt and the US state of Texas were seen in the port. The LNG was unloaded overnight at an exclusive pier.
A port official said more tankers have been coming from the US and other countries. The official said the port has never been busier.

Most of these nations have left some coal power plants operational during this transition to "renewable energy" and they will be restarting those to deal with this widely foreseen crisis.
