The GOP leadership wants an autocratic government in order to gain permanent total power and unlimited wealth, just like Putin.

The GOP base wants white christian minority rule and total control over women and minorities.

In return, Putin gets a greatly weakened, divided US.

Everyone is happy.

Lie about a crisis in another country and then invade it. Iraq has not recovered to this day. Poor Ukraine. I have the same sick feeling that I had in March 2003 when we invaded Iraq. Repukes know exactly what Putin is, and they admire him for it.

is no concern to them.

But what they do understand is attacking Biden, the Democratic Party, and owning the Liberals is fun for them - and are using Ukraine as a method of attack. For some it offers a political avenue for attacks and for some they are simply following the leader (Trump, etc..) - and if they cared about democracy at all, they wouldn't frame an insurrection as legitimate political discourse.

They don't care about democracy or the people in their own country, much less in some foreign country they couldn't find on a map.

Putin is sticking it to everything they believe is bad in the world. Of course they are cheering that.

Or more accurately, only to the extent that they've been able to manipulate the outcome to their advantage, through denying the vote to women and slaves, and then turning to other suppression tactics.

As they see whites becoming a minority soon, they are less and less interested in democracy.

In short, they never actually believed in democracy.

They hid what they were until they felt it wouldnt matter if they showed thier true colors anymore.

They have been fascists from the beginning.

And we dont need a goddamn fascist party as our "right wing." The sooner the republican party dissapears the better.

There are no moderates in the republican party anymore. And the ones claiming they are ,frankly I dont trust them..
Either you work for democracy ,fairness equality or you dont.
Its that stark.

They want to be like him...virtually unfettered power in perpetuity.

They aren't even making any secret of their authoritarian ambitions; they want Trump to be their Putin, Orban, Erdogan, Fujimori, Pinochet etc.

I have encountered a disturbing amount of people who say "if we have to have a dictator, let it be Trump."

Back in the late 70s a Republican Indiana State Senator counselled me on my BSA Citizenship In The Nation merit badge.

He knew his stuff.

He was a good man.

At the close of our sessions he urged me when I turned 18 to be sure to exercise my right as a citizen to vote.

I am glad this kindly, knowledgeable gentleman is not here today to see what his party has become: Trump, Fox, Taylor Greene, Boebert etc.

Attack the press
Jail all political opposition
Suspend the Bill of Rights
Ban Unions
Ban all abortions
No free and Fair elections
Attack LGBTQ people and suspend their rights
Ban Same sex couples from adopting

Some of these points are happening in Russia. Congressional Republicans who are praising and rooting for Putin are fucking TRAITORS.

The distinction depends on the Republican you are looking at. There are those who love Putin, because they are authoritarian/fascist crotch sniffers. See all the not-at-all subtile thirst for Putin during the Obama years. Remember that Putin shirtless on a horse pic they sent around for a good three months? Yeah, that’s one group.

The other group doesn’t care what Russia does, so long as they can scream at Democrats about it. These are the politics-is-a-sport type. Their team can do no wrong, the other team must die.

All of this came from the Republicans selling both their soul and intellect during the W years. No brains, no heart… that’s today’s GOP.

They just believe the marketing of the white man supreme.

They don’t know how young those white men die.
They don’t know how Putin just upped the age on Social Security.
They don’t know how every week, at the local grocery, the prices go up daily. They will tell you that you are sacrificing for mother Russia.
You think you own a business? Maybe, maybe not.

Of all the times, they should do their research, this is the topic that they should. Facts, not all feels, people.

I suspect they like the looks of his autocratic kleptocracy and would really like to have one of their own. They could be very wealthy kings for life and not have to bother pandering to any damn voters. What's not to like?
