I would accept $6 gas

Last edited Thu Feb 24, 2022, 06:31 PM - Edit history (1)

If it meant cutting Russia off from the rest of the world.

It's not as if I think this would be a good thing. I just don't see doing any serious harm to Russia without cutting off oil exports.

Would love to here better ideas that could inflict enough pain on Putin.

And the point is also we might have to sacrifice something to help Ukrane.

Neither of my vehicles gets over 24 miles per gallon on the highway, but if one only drives a few miles a day on average…

Six dollar a gallon gas would have a big impact on most. people though.

They are going to get hit harder by this than I will.

More businesses will have to let their people telework for the next couple months or start giving out raises so they can afford the commute.

Just saying.

the majority of people don't have that luxury. If it ever gets above 4 dollars you are going to see hysteria take place across the country. The average American financially can't handle that type of shock to the system.

Partly it's gas taxes, partly it's because California regulates what sorts of chemicals can be sold as gasoline. Most of those rules are meant to reduce air and water pollution, above and beyond what federal rules require.

Have you seen pictures of the stickers on gas pumps? Biden pointing to the “Total Sale” with the caption “I did this”?

This is why if things get really bad, we’ll become even more fractured as a country. There is no sense of shared sacrifice, and the “I got mine” attitude will rule. It will not be the Greatest Generation 2.0. It will be borderline dystopia.

Do you think tractors, combines, sprayers, harvesters, and the trucks who deliver the food run on solar or wind ???

Be careful what you wish for.

How do you think people who live in rural areas could afford to get to their jobs in the cities ???

I use to drive 100 miles round trip to get to work.

I couldn't afford to live close to where I worked.

One would think there’d be at least some benefit since it doesn’t need to be shipped half way around the world.
And is poisoning the earth.

is to cut off Russia from the world as much as possible. Including oil exports. Being a major oil country, that would cause a rise in oil prices.

Although it would be nice to get all those Dodge PNS Compensators, Ford 3/4 ton PP-x-10-DRs, and GM Manhood enlargers with their gas guzzling V-8s off the road. It might even help with road rage. It’s hard to be “manly” or Macho in a Geo Metro
