I assume all members of NATO are handy at this time. Stage a vote and do it already. As with so much shit these days consequences need to be swift not drag on for years or never.

Reminder: Russia signed a binding international agreement in 1994 committing "to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine” and “to refrain from the threat or use of force” against the country.

Drumpf seems to be the de-facto activities coordinator and cheerleader for thugs and anti- democracy dictators. He relishes the role.

Their permanent inclusion in the UN is extremely problematic, and this is an interesting angle.

I don't think too many countries would worry about how it looks when they busted their asses trying to head this off. The very regions that asked the UN for help then had Russia declare war on Ukraine. Who's kidding who? Kick them the hell out of the UN. Apparently, no need to keep them available for peace talks.

The USSR had a seat, but the USSR no longer exists, so that seat is vacant. For that matter, have Taiwan take back their seat from the PRC if they complain. Putin's argument is that the Ukraine government isn't legitimate because their was a "coup". If PRC agrees with that logic then they are not the legitimate government of China either.

The only precedent (China) would be to decide that some other entity was the legitimate Government of Russia. That entity doesn't exist.

Their trade with all of the EU countries and North American countries dwarfs any trade they have with Russia.

They may agree on some military necessities, but when it comes to keeping the Chinese economy humming along, that's a different story.

You may very well be correct, but it certainly wouldn't be a snap decision. The Chinese are patient, and they'd think that through thoroughly I believe.
