Putin brought up nukes in his speech, which has taken a lot of people by surprise. Also, Russia has missiles that have the capabilty of hitting every European capital.

Add to this Michael McFaul’s observation on MSNBC that Putin seems “completely unhinged.”

I really can’t “go there” right now, mentally. But I have to say this is the first time in my memory this has even been a remote possibility. (I was too young to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis.)

EDIT — All we can really do is trust Biden and other Western leaders to navigate this. Really no other option.
