We're going too easy on Russia

Russia needs to be shut off from the rest of the world until they withdraw from Ukraine. Short of a direct military response, the US's and international community's immediate response should have included, at a minimum:

1. The freezing, and movement toward seizure, of all Russian assets outside of Russia, including cash in banks, real property owned by the Russian government or by any Russian oligarchs known to support Russia's actions.
2. Immediate cessation of all scientific cooperation between Russia and the West including cooperation in space, participation in international scientific conferences, teacher exchanges and business ventures.
3. The expulsion of all Russian diplomats worldwide.
4. Denial of access to the international banking system. Russia should not be able to buy or sell anything at all to or from any country.
5. Banning of Russia from all international athletic competition, including soccer matches, Olympics, curling, hockey - everything. And Russia shall not be allowed to host same.
6. Banning of all air traffic into and out of Russia. No airliner originating from Russia may land at any airport outside of Russia.

Further, any nation that aligns with western interests in general, but who doesn't do the things listed above, would be subject to sanctions by the US.

Russia needs to be isolated immediately. The world has has weeks to put this together while the Russians were assembling troops. But, not nearly enough has been done.

Also, as of today (invasion+48 hours or so) the UN still has yet to issue a full-throated condemnation of Russia. They should have been drafting resolutions knowing full damn well what was about to happen, and then release and vote on them on the first day of the invasion. Yes, the UN's stuff isn't really binding. But, at least it makes a statement.

This whole thing has me pissed off, both the invasion by Russia and the global response to it.

Fuck Russia and fuck China.

They need Russia's oil and gas. Unless we can provide an alternative, they won't go along with any sanctions that are too severe.
