Also read another tweet that some of the Russian soldiers are surrendering. They didn't come to kill their brothers. Presumably, they were collecting information.
Just tidbits at the moment. This was a retweet from Malcolm Nance.

(43,181 posts)With surrender comes munitions and armaments. So if true, that will help the resistance.
In war, all information is propaganda. This could be a morale booster, it could be true, it could be to demoralize Russian forces and encourage defection and surrender, or it could mean nothing.

(32,645 posts)I don't believe this happened at the airport. But the Russian platoon said they didn't come to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians, so they surrendered. Putin is gonna have a BIG problem if this continues. The Russians were told it was a peaceful training mission or whatever, they didn't come to harm the Ukrainians.

(10,831 posts)Putin has lied from the beginning. From the sounds of these scattered reports, his glorious, first day blitzkrieg was not the success he had in mind.
Ukrainians are holding to their promise thus far: Russians are seeing their faces, not their backs. Still, the future is ominous.
The courage against a superior force is impressive. Protests within Russia are equally impressive.
The people, even some of the military, are not buying into Putin's spin.
The whole assault is irrational.

(17,931 posts)That means they crushed the airborne Russian troops dropped in by chopper. They're either dead, prisoners or both.

(51,609 posts)The Russian people may suffer sever economic hardship and Putin doesn't care. He always does what he wants and no one else is of value to him. Even if the citizens are vocal and demonstrating he either doesn't listen to that info or he just ignores it. Russian soldiers may surrender but that will also have little effect on his decisions.

(21,359 posts)It would be huge news, I have serious doubts. Tha airport story has been going back and forth all day. There has been zero reporting about Russians surrendering.

(12,154 posts)Maybe they're working on verifying it before reporting on it. Fingers crossed it's true.

I'd certainly imagine that has changed and they have the latest greatest war machines.
