Is it possible he has been tipped off by someone in DOJ that the DOJ has a solid case against Trump and that the cases could overlap?

Note that Garland said publicly that he was investigating the document destruction case referred by the National Archives, but he has never said he is investigating Trump for 1/6/21. You're reading tea leaves that aren't there. We haven't seen the Trump crowd suing to stop subpoenas from DOJ, and we would if there was an active case.
