I've held off on posting this: I have friends in Kyiv

The son of our good friends, who works for the State Dept, was stationed at the US Embassy in Kyiv, where he lived with his Ukranian wife.

I hope you can all understand why I haven't talked about this until now. We've been a bit frantic for the past few days, trying to confirm they were safe. This "son of good friends" is someone my wife held as a baby, & they're some of the closest "family" we have.

We've confirmed they both evacuated safely, but his wife's family are all still in Ukraine. Thankfully, we've been able to maintain sporadic communication with the family & as of this morning they're all safe.

We hope they stay safe.

And FUCK PUTIN!

I have a friend in Kiev hiding in a basement with mom and sis. Spent a week trying to get her to leave. Various excuses that nothing would happen and then eventually simply too afraid to leave the basement.

They are still alive but my deep fear is that they are in real danger.

It becomes a bit less academic. Best hopes and wishes for your friend's wife's family still in Ukraine.

I am so sorry for what they are going through right now and I hope for their safety. My heart breaks for anyone who is trapped in this situation and the families and friends who love them around the world.

My son's best friend in NYC is from Ukraine. She cannot even talk about what's happening because she breaks into tears.

So glad the world is showing support for Ukraine which must be shocking for Fox viewers/tRump supporters, so fuck those idiots.
