Spoke with my son who is following the conflict in Ukraine on every website, channel, message board, Twitter, etc. He said he and a buddy figured out Russian troop movements on Google maps based on "heavy traffic pinging off cell phones carried by Russian troops." He said he wouldn't be surprised if Ukraine was doing the same tracking, which is why they've been so successful at attacking Russian convoys. That and the defensive camera system set up in Ukraine (he says whoever set up the defensive camera system is a goddamn genius).

(1,040 posts)is set up on highways, light poles, bridges etc. In addition, there are webcams everywhere on buildings and trees -- you name it. Think the military being able to tap into Ring cameras nationwide.

(24,890 posts)Be ironic if militaries could no longer sneak up on people because their soldiers have to sit on their smartphones all the time thereby tracking them.
