Zelensky rejects U.S. offer to evacuate: "I need ammunition, not a ride"

https://www.axios.com/russian-troops-invade-ukraine-encircle-kyiv-9b4acc6a-1bb1-4862-8280-11b09471608e.html

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remained resolute on Saturday amid tense fighting in and around Kyiv. "I'm here. We are not putting down any arms. We will protect our country, because our weapons are our truth," he said in a video posted to Twitter Saturday.'

This is courage. This is leadership. The world needs to crush Putin where it hurts, in his pocketbook. I hope the Russian military just stands down and revolts against this madman. Pray for Ukraine.

I thought we might help with air power and special forces. I did not think we would simply let them get crushed. Not that I am advocating anything. I am not a foreign policy expert.

Biden Administration Debates Legality of Arming Ukrainian Resistance, Foreign Policy, 2/24

Over the past year, some administration officials have repeatedly warned against military moves that could inadvertently escalate tensions with Moscow. This led U.S. President Joe Biden to temporarily hold up sending U.S. defensive military aid to Ukraine despite buy-ins from other U.S. agencies.

...

Some officials said the National Security Council (NSC) isn’t ruling out U.S. Defense Department plans to arm Ukrainians but rather asking standard questions about how and when the aid would be delivered, what legal authorities the United States could use to do so, and why the Ukrainians might need the weapons. The Biden administration has provided more than $600 million in defensive military aid to Ukraine since Russia first started a major military buildup in 2021.

Ukraine invasion: UK and US among 27 nations which have agreed to give more weapons and military aid to country, Sky News understands, Sky News, 2/26

More than two dozen nations, including the UK, other European countries, and the US, will give more weapons, medical supplies and other military aid to Ukraine as it fights a Russian invasion, Sky News understands.

The UK has offered to conduct "logistics operations" to support the delivery of the donations, a defence source said.

I am quite sure that not every plan or scheme makes it to the media. It only makes sense if we, and/or NATO, are doing just that, under the radar.

At least I sure hope we are.
