Only about a third of the troops Putler had stationed on Ukraine's border have entered the country. Plus
Putler asked Kazakhstan to send troops to help him, they turned him down.
So what's going on there? Are factions of the Russian army refusing to fight, that's he's begging for help?
And if some are refusing to fight, Putler is surely trying to keep that information under wraps. He's got a
10 to 1 advantage over Ukraine and he's asking for help, something's amiss here.

(745 posts)Also 200k troops arent all meant to be moved in to occupy, you have to establish checkpoints and supply lines behind the occupation force.

Having said that - I hope the grunts on the ground see how pointless and cruel this all is and walk away.

(18,663 posts)It is not puzzling at all.
They know at some point any attack is going to bog down however the defenders will also be weary. At that point they bring in fresh troops to resume the attack. Repeat as necessary. Victory is achieved through inexorable pressure.

(18,663 posts)Do not know exactly where the 2nd Eshelon forces are at this moment.
You do want your troops close enough to react and get the momentum back going as quickly as possible. However you also need to keep your MSRs (Main Supply Routes)open and not clogged with troops waiting their turn. Also it is necessary to keep those troops far enough back that they cannot be easily struck with artillery or from the air.
Modern militarys can move faster than in World War II so even at 50 to 60 miles behind they can be up to the front and fighting within 3 hours of being called.

(17,259 posts)was 50/60 miles from the Ukraine/Belarus border by looking at the maps I'd seen on TV. A little WWW
search tells me it's actually 140 miles, news this morning said only 1/3 of Putler's troops had crossed the
border into Ukraine. IMO, something is amiss and it has nothing to do with logistics or tactics.

(4,298 posts)I really suspect some might do that once they learn how dear leader is being received around the world. If we could just break through their communication and let them hear what is happening around the world.

and other motorized vehicles, walk back home unarmed" messages. Keep 'em confused & disoriented.
