Just saw this segment on The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart.
On FOX this morning to Maria Bartarolomo, Kevin McCarthy said "the Russian invasion was WRONG. That no country should stand with Vladimir Putin."
To which in amazement, Jonathan Capehart was in disbelief. Saying in short, there goes his support from TDFG.

(115,879 posts)by a combination of Ukraine's response and the international sanctions, he'll pivot and declare he never liked Putin that much anyhow. TFG never wants to be seen as supporting a loser. McCarthy knows that. He sees what's happening and he figures he won't lose much juice with TFG in the long run.

(21,427 posts)don't let him get away with that bs. Every Republican is tied to Trump-to Putler-to Russia.
Give McCarthy the Mike Pompeo treatment, badger him with Russia/Putler/Trump questions.
Fuck Republicans trying to save face, every one of them owns Trump and what Trump stands for.
The MSM needs to call every one out who is flipping.

Cotton has had multiple opportunities to stand up for Ukraine and to stand against Putin, and he didn't do it.

Seems to me that one thing the invasion of Ukraine is doing with regard to U.S. domestic politics is that it's bringing all the GOP fecklessness and FUD of the last five years into sharp relief. With the aid of Russia -- the masters of FUD -- the Republican Party has managed to get away with sowing endless confusion, and they've benefitted politically from that confusion. But when bombs start dropping on a European capital, it's hard to ignore the reality of what they've done.
Now we're sitting here watching these fuckers slither from one position to another, and it's just so painfully obvious that they have no morals, no positions, no ideas -- nothing. They'll just slide over to wherever they think they need to be at any given moment. Watching the GOP try to run from its long history of Putin worship is one of them most pathetic things I think I've ever seen.
The leader of the Republican Party wanted to get rid of NATO and destroy our European alliances, and sided with an evil dictator who has now started a war in Europe and turned his own country into a pariah nation. I hope to hell that we hammer them hard over this in the coming mid-terms.

(7,863 posts)1/6.. McCarthy publicly blamed Trump for the attack on the Capital only to backtrack days later...encouraged an investigation into 1/6 only to sabotage the investigation at the behest of Trump...scenario within the realm of possibilities: after FOX interview, McCarthy, bags packed, flies to Mar-a-Lago to kiss Trump's ass and beg forgiveness..
