"SNIP.....
New satellite images from Maxar Technologies show the Russian military convoy that has reached the outskirts of Kyiv is now more than 40 miles long, CNN reports.
......SNIP"
Applegrove: They can't drive on the ground because for some reason (climate change?) it is not frozen and the mud stops their heavy vehicles. So they have to stick to roads. We need a convoy of truckers who can leave their trucks with the brakes on and gum up the roads. It can be done.

(11,097 posts)The first strike is on the lead and rear-most vehicles. That blocks the road and the others can be picked off as long as the ammunition and targets last.

(20,758 posts)I'm guessing the Generals are just about pissing themselves trying to get authorization to break up the column(s) into waves, get air cover in place, etc.
But Pooty wants a big impressive-looking parade.
Those kids are in the meat grinder.
I feel sorry for them.

(5,969 posts)This is almost deliberate incompetence. They've created a sitting duck that is getting juicier every day.

(4,435 posts)For about a hundred fully armed Cobra attack helicopters right now. And a couple of heavy artillery batteries. The artillery can hit each end, then rake the line target until there is nothing but rust and ashes.
Our Armys Cobra attack helicopters could chew up that column in 15 minutes. We turned them into storage 30 years ago. Could be useful today.

(14,886 posts)I'd also rather see these young Russian soldiers turn around and go home.
Save both sides from more destruction, injury and death bc of Putin.

(28,075 posts)Better that than continuing to participate in Putin's war crimes.
I hope when this is over any soldier that participated in attacking civilians is hauled to The Hague and tried for their crimes.

(10,667 posts)The most feared aircraft in the Air Force arsenal, the A-10 Tankbuster was the first aircraft in U.S. aviation history designed specifically for Close Air Support. Its ability to support ground troops, to take out enemy positions and tanks and act as a spotter plane have made it one of the most successful jets of recent times. From its first taste of battle in Desert Storm to the recent assault on Baghdad, the A-10 carries enough weaponry into battle to disable 16 main battle tanks, and with its amazing 30 millimeter 7-barrelled cannon, the "Flying Gun" dominates the skies. This episode chronicles the combat history of the "Warthog" and features interviews with current pilots who share combat experiences and take you for an unforgettable flight in the A-10.
