At least they aren't complaining about not being able to get workers and instead doing the logical thing--respond to market conditions and pay more.

(25,856 posts)I'm 73 years old, retired since 2016. My retirement income is adequate to support me, but I sometimes think that going back to work for a year or two might make sense. Alas, I love not working. I will also say that I have NEVER had a job that was better than not working, Which is why I'm totally befuddled by those who retired and then went back to work because they were "bored". Really? Get a life. Don't define yourself by your job. Really.

I have no problem keeping myself occupied all day.

Happy you enjoy not working. For me, working part time and volunteering, while not particularly financially life changing, is enriching my life immensely.

(19,066 posts)People at the bottom are finally getting a chance at a real income. $24 an hour is a living most places. Target offers benefits too, you can have a dignified existence on $24 an hour.

About the only stores we see not raising pay scales are stores like The Dollar Store and other such entities. Why, because they can't jack up prices to cover their losses.
The days of "enticing" workers with motivation circles, bad pizza, anti-union screeds, and unpaid overtime should be just about over, I would think.
