The Trump campaign worked behind the scenes last week to make sure the new Republican platform won’t call for giving weapons to Ukraine to fight Russian and rebel forces, contradicting the view of almost all Republican foreign policy leaders in Washington.

Republican delegates at last week’s national security committee platform meeting in Cleveland were surprised when the Trump campaign orchestrated a set of events to make sure that the GOP would not pledge to give Ukraine the weapons it has been asking for from the United States.

We need to stop hanging everything on Trump. He's going to be fine from the scene and the GOP is going to further radicalize while trying to blame everything on the last guy, and try and paint him as a democrat.

The GOP collapsed into this authoritarian madness because they were everything that he has been.

I respect members of the military, and am grateful to them. But there's a difference between that, and idolatry of the military. Idolatry of men in uniform is a Fascist characteristic. Hence, Graham, DeSantis, and many other GOP politicians weaseling their way into the JAG corps, so they can get their campaign money shot of an overweight, middle aged man in a uniform. Bravery in the face of the very real possibility of being wounded by a falling law book.

But the fake military guys like DeSantis won't cut it next to an actual veteran like Cotton, and Cotton knows it.
