(45,433 posts)Back in the day, Vyacheslav Molotov was such an asshole that he claimed the USSR was dropping food baskets to help feed the Finnish people when really they were dropping bombs to kill them. So the Finns tossed alcohol bottles filled with petrol at Soviet tanks saying here's some nice cocktails to go with your food.
Some things never change.

(16,373 posts)I also loved Winnie the Putin and dead Ronnie Reagan throwing up in his mouth at Trump's gushing about Pootie.
Edited to add: And the atm sticking its tongue out at Putin--almost forgot that one.
There were some outstandingly funny ones today.

(37,158 posts)Except for the first, which is a "pair" on its own, I pair cartoons from a few days ago with more recent ones that tell a different story. Each of the "sanctions are ineffective" cartoons are paired with one from today or yesterday, where people have stopped blithely dismissing them.

(6,626 posts)Thanks for explanation of pairing Then "sanctions are too puny" with Now "sanctions are crushing". Since Putin loves money and only money, sanctions are smart strategy, esp. taking out oligarchs' stash of Pooty's cash.
Thank you!

(7,607 posts)Two of the toons, de Adder and Brookes, reinforce right-wing, blame-Biden talking points. Yes, the limited effect of sanctions is frustrating, but that is not a failure of leadership- it is a dilemma being faced by adults.
That said, I am big fan of cartoon commentary and thank you for sharing your collections.
