WASHINGTON GOP leaders in the House and the Senate on Monday denounced a pair of far-right Trump allies Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Paul Gosar, R-Ariz. for speaking at a gathering of white nationalists in Florida over the weekend.
Theres no place in the Republican Party for white supremacists or anti-Semitism, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a terse statement.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters for CNN and Punchbowl News that it was appalling and wrong for the two lawmakers to attend the meeting in Florida and that he plans to discuss the matter with them.
Theres no place in our party for any of this. ... The party should not be associated any time, any place with somebody who is antisemitic, said McCarthy, who recently returned from leading a delegation of House Republicans to Israel. This is unacceptable.

This goes for EVERY Republican, by the way.

(18,973 posts)Sure thing Mitch, your entire party is centered around White Supremacy and Anti Semitism. If the GOP suddenly got rid of all of their white supremacy policies, they wouldn't be the GOP anymore.

(17,474 posts)A real denouncement would include a demand for and immediate vote for expulsion, and a clear and unambiguous statement that the Nazis and their fellow travelers have no place in American politics or American society. There should be a Republican sponsored resolution on the floor of congress that states that the Congress considers Nazis, Klan, Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and their fellow travelers to be un-American, and enemies of our Democratic Republic. Unless, of course they believe that Nazis do have a legitimate place in American government and society.
If I have learned anything in the past few years, it is that Republicans say, in public, the exact opposite of what their real policies and goals are. When they talk about "freedom" they mean the freedom for them to determine every aspect of your life, from conception to grave. After all, they, and their corporate sponsors, know what is best for us.

(54,302 posts)The Republican Party is THE place for white supremacists and anti-Semitism. It is their refuge from the storm with a big hearth fire and welcoming hostesses.
McCarthy may be a dunce, but McTurtle knows perfectly well he is talking trash. Nobody knows how to tailor his words to his audience better than Moscow Mitch.
