It's a little fishy that the Ukrainians would say that if it were true. I mean, why burn the source?

BUT.... it could mean significant discontent within the Russian security apparatus.

This could be Russian disinformation. Bear with me.

Maybe it's not a Chechen team at all. But they know some Chechens were killed. Let's call them up and say 'oh wow you guys got our kill team, darn.'

Ukraine search team let's up, but there is still a kill team or kill teams, actively seeking Zelinsky and others.

Russians expert at disinformation right. Why wouldn't they spread it on ground in an operation?

I'd say we are in a fog of war where we really can't say at any particular moment, especially after first hearing a report.
