"SNIP.......
China signaled it was ready to play a role in finding a ceasefire in Ukraine as it deplored the outbreak of conflict in its strongest comments yet on the war, the Financial Times reports.
The statement marked a change in tone from Beijing.

They look at Pooty as a ham-handed fool with energy supplies.
They are probably embarrassed that he is proving to be so tone deaf and tactically inept.

(53,476 posts)the spot light he enjoyed being next to trump in many highly visible meetings with trump during the orange turd's admin. Next to trump he always seemed like the polished, self-assured one controlling the goings-on.
But when you think about it, Attilla the Hun would seem assured and in control next to the bumbling, kowtowing idiot that is trump.

China is not going to be sending any troops into Russia to govern that unruly mob.
It's so much easier to pay Russians to deliver these resources to them.
Most people don't seem to realize how threadbare Russia is. The Chinese economy is at least ten times larger than that of Russia, maybe twenty times in these recent days.

(32,061 posts)Russia supplies about 40% of it, and they don't want to be seen as dealing with a pariah state. or risk a war where the pipelines to their country get destroyed.. They're trying to nip this in the bud, although they're quite late to the table.

(6,035 posts)The war is disrupting trade; something China understands.
But China and Russia just signed an agreement that states, "Friendship between the two states has no limits".
The question is, "will they be more pro-Russia, or pro-Ukraine.
The Chinese aren't stupid, and they know which way the wind blows, so it isn't a slam dunk that they'll be on Russia's side. Should be interesting if they get involved.

(15,246 posts)as it indicates the Chinese have seen enough. They've probably concluded Putin's war isn't in their national interest. Right now Putin has no way out of the mess he's created. China's getting off the sidelines could provide the out Putin needs to negotiate a diplomatic settlement.
