(82,849 posts)I'm beginning to think that some of these whackaloons like Steve Bannon are not as influential or deserving of major media attention as they are portrayed to be. Like, if the popular media just ignored Bannon and his ilk, would they have to get real jobs?

(1,602 posts)This may very well be their "Are we the bad guys?" moment.
What is rural America seeing now on TV? They are seeing white, rural, working-class people - farmers, truckers, grocers - just like themselves - being bombed by the very people that they've been cheering on for the last six years. They are seeing children just like their own children, being left homeless or worse, just more casualties in a war of aggression, and they are starting to think for the first time in a while. They are seeing themselves in Kyiv, and they are beginning to believe that perhaps they've been lied to, deceived, played for fools.
You see, the problem with the Big Lie is that it's a Ponzi Scheme. In the end, reality always reasserts itself. and when it does, people move from being gullible to becoming angry. I think elections this fall will prove very enlightening.
