Milwaukee assistant city attorney who backed Putin in Russian TV appearance fired

A Milwaukee assistant city attorney has been fired after backing Russian President Vladimir Putin in an appearance on Russia Today TV.

City attorney Tearman Spencer terminated Jennifer DeMaster on Monday with a notice that cited "Job performance. Poor fit," according to The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Last week, DeMaster appeared on Russia Today and asserted that Putin was within his rights to recognize the two separatist regions in Ukraine as independent, claiming he did nothing wrong in sending troops there.

"When people like Secretary of State [Antony] Blinken of the U.S. or [British Prime Minister] Boris Johnson or others or [President] Joe Biden come out and say this is a clear violation of international law, that's simply not true. It is not a clear violation of international law because they cannot name an international law that this violates," DeMaster said, according to the Journal Sentinel.

All I can say is... Good. We all know this is what Tucky and the magats want to call 'a violation of free speech' and 'censoring' and 'no dissent allowed' but fuck 'em... As far as I'm concerned, they are getting off light for siding with a murderous dictator and enemy of democracy.

After all, it is California, and beside the Gulf of California. We wouldn't even have to create a new state, we just rename the whole thing Largo California. It would be in our National interest to have all of that coastline to develop, and damn the Mexicans.

Of particular concern to those groups was her past work for the Clarion Project, a group that has been labeled one the major proponents of Islamophobia in the United States, and before that for the American Center for Law and Justice, where as a law clerk she prepped attorneys on "Sharia law (and) radical Islamic ideology," according to a resume she filed in federal court.

She also wrote "Babylon Unveiled," a book in which she argued that Islam is not a peaceful religion.
