(5,897 posts)It was a legitimate resupply convoy for the Ukrainian Army. Volodya is so misunderstood.....

(5,897 posts)You destroy the fuel tankers. End of mission.
InstantGratification
(158 posts)Cut off the fuel and those tanks, APCs, artillery pieces, etc, all get left by the side of the road and their crews become ordinary infantry soldiers. I'm being generous calling them that because they aren't as well equipped as actual infantry, not in armament, ammo, food or anything else a standard foot soldier would have. Shooting fish in a barrel comes to mind....

Showing the soldiers that they mean no harm to the Russian Soldiers or Citizens, but only to Putin......
That would make the Russian Soldiers sit up and take notice to who's side they should be on......

(6,446 posts)...that Ukranians call their capital Kyiv and Russians call the city Kiev. It is pronounced differently as well. I have taken the stance of the Washington Post and the Guardian and begun calling the city Kyiv as it is listed on maps and as the "natives" prefer it to be called that. Perhaps you might choose to do the same.

(51,129 posts)In the afternoon, we received information about the Russian military column, which was moving towards Kryvyi Rih from Bashtanka and counted about 800 units of wheel equipment.
Our defenders worked promptly, not leaving the enemy a chance to even enter the territory of Dnipropetrovsk. The column was attacked from the air, the occupiers got tightly. And will reach again with even more power if they try to break through the border area again.
The enemy will never get Kryvyi Rih. How will not receive a single touch of land of any other settlement of Dnipropetrovsk region. This is our home that we will protect every second.
Regarding the situation in the region as a whole, everything is under control. The Regional Council held a meeting with the heads of communities, security forces, military, people's deputies. There is understanding, who, how should act and what to do in any scenario, there is coexistence, and there is a willingness to give away. We are together, we are close to people, we work.
Ukraine survived today another terrible day. The world once saw what "Russian peace" is. But the Ukrainian peace is stronger. Ukrainians are stronger. And that's how it will always be ...

(11,098 posts)Forgive my inherent cynicism but these photos do not look like the tightly bunched convoy seen in yesterday's photos. These photos also do not appear to be from the same location.
My parents named me Thomas in a moment of prophetic insight.
Nevertheless, please God make it true.

(51,129 posts)I have not seen satellite images of this convoy. Given the fog of war, we all know to read with skepticism. The north convoy was 3.5 miles long, not 40. It was 40 miles from Kyiv and later stretched out to 17 miles on the way there.

(51,129 posts)Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Head Vitalii Kim noted on Telegram that, during this operation, the Ukrainian military lost just one helicopter, and its pilots managed to survive.
A reminder that, on March 1, 2022, the Russian military attempted to capture Mykolaiv from Bashtanka District. The enemy shelled the bypass road with the Grad multiple rocket launcher systems (MRLS), having caused seven fires.

(12,383 posts)That it is a three mile convoy But because it was 40 miles out of Kiev it was mistakenly reported to be a 40 mile convoy. Of course Im not there so I cant swear to it either way.

A destroyed convoy of 800 is insane and there will be definitely images soon if it's true. Hundreds of bombed vehicles is such a clusterfuck over probably a few miles.

(54,370 posts)Ivan Turgenyev wrote a collection of stories called (The) Hunting Tales, also known as A/The (Russian and Ukrainian have no articles, remember) Sportsman's Sketches. Literally, " (the) notes of (a) hunter."
It was published in 1852, and no Ukrainian or Russian would miss the reference. It's more a part of their school curriculum than Hemingway or Melville is for us.
Although, come to think of it, I should probably watch my literary references. Ask a Republican these days who Hemingway and Melville were, and their response would probably be, "remind me again, which teams did they play for?"
