This is a primary so I don't know why Julían Castro is making such a statement. Yes, nearly all of the larger urban counties have turned Democratic but the closest that a Democrat has come to winning a statewide race in decades was in 2018 when Beto ran against Cruz. I haven't given up hope, but I don't want anybody to get my hopes up only to be dashed.

If Beto wins the general election it will be based upon two factors:

1) the appeal of the candidate and lack of appeal of Abbott
2) the dedication of his campaign staff--they are the hardest workers that I've ever seen on a political campaign and I have over three decades of observation.

As far as the Cisneros/Cuellar race is concerned, it is too early to call. No results have been returned from Starr or Jim Hogg counties which should help Cuellar. However, there are no results from Bexar county which should help Cisneros.

I still think that they are jumping the gun by calling the race for Casar considering that none of the vote has been counted in Bexar county.

wasn't directly about Beto, or Cisneros/Cuellar, but he referred to several 'recent' races, about which I'm not familiar, for suggestion that Dems can move some things.

The only thing Abbott has going for him is the (R) after his name on the ballot.

I look for an uncomfortably close race.
