The failure in Ukraine is so devastating to his ego and his vision of himself, maybe he will just commit suicide.

(49,001 posts)Mob bosses are only Da Capo while they are producing. Putin isn't producing any more. He controls oligarchs through state apparatus including threats of violence (via subordinates of course) but if push comes to shove and they unite, then that apparatus and threats won't work very well, particularly if the populace feels the same way.
They won't assassinate him but they will convince him to retire to his $1,000,000,000 palace (yes, billion dollar palatial estate) he is building.
The question is, how soon will they act and how long will it take to convince him.

(14,966 posts)But I suspect that the heavy bombing, shelling, and mass murdering of Ukrainians is more likely than either of those first two outcomes.

(2,520 posts)kidding. If Putins intent is to destroy Ukrain he has almost completed it. Watching him annihilate the people of Ukrain is one of the hardest things to watch. I keep switching stations. The only savior for Ukrain is for the Russian people to stop Putin. Then he would kill him self and the world will lose an evil evil man

(54,370 posts)I'm sure he knows how to say "Et tu, Sergei?" in Russian.
It may be too soon to remind him to beware the Ides of March, but come the autumnal equinox, it might be a good time for him to either increase his personal bodyguards (and hope they didn't take a hint from Indira Gandhi's bodyguards), or else get that yacht of his repaired ASAP and book himself a berth in the yacht harbor of Monte Carlo under the name of Luigi Linguini, or some other very NON-Russian-sounding name.

(7,303 posts)He is angry, not embarrassed. Other people will pay for his mistakes. The most immediate victims will be Russian soldiers and Ukrainians.
Make no mistake.... Russia took it on the chin in week one, but they are transitioning to a strategy of grinding Ukraine to a pulp.

(5,689 posts)again Ukraine, nothing will be. It's like when the Japanese, when they knew the war was hopeless, littered Jiangxi and Zhejiang farm lands with pathogens so nothing could grow for a few years.
