You know you've been wanting to for years already. And here SHE goes, daring to speak after the POTUS SOTU speech as threatened (or, as some would have it, "foretold" .
So, what did the insidious MS Tlaib DARE say to the wake of President Joe's predictably non-controversial speech? "Despite some sensational coverage, it's simple: I'm giving a speech about supporting President Biden and his Build Back Better agenda for the people," she testifies. And there you have it, irrefutable evidence! Hoisted by her own petard. Fair weather liberal reactionaries everywhere should rejoice that, due to tremendous personal sacrifice and unyielding courage on the part of partisans here, she did not get away from this unscathed.
BTW: that's all
We got to this ball, in no small way, through forgotten ancient tunnels and along unkept secret paths of progressive political action. We should allot, at least, one place on our card for a free-style dance with their figureheads even as they, leading our ship gracefully through our storms, are perceived to step on some overly sensitive toes.

(6,820 posts)Praise our POTUS and be honest with our mirror's image, all at once. I question a belief of the ineffectual, that cheerleading plays much of a role in winning.
From the flock's POV, sheepdogs are mostly just a nuisance. But the shepherd, that's a different story, he's the man.

(16,095 posts)horror! Shock! Oh noes! She dared to speak of it in public.
I'm sure there will be plenty who want to nitpick a word choice or a comma where they didn't like it. It always happens.
Thanks for this.

(21,323 posts)that SOTU speech was pretty damned progressive. Not going to fall for the moderate v progressive fight one another.
Bettie
(16,095 posts)she was backing him up. That's the point.
By the end of the day, there will very likely be multiple comments on what a terrible person she is That she had no right to speak at all and she should sit down and shut up. It happens every time.

(9,323 posts)I don't know if the speech will provoke criticism from the far left, but it was almost entirely in line with the mainstream of the Democratic Party. Responsible leadership.
Speaking of responsible leadership, AOC spoke after Biden's speech (don't recall which channel I saw it on), and she mentioned, without a hint of sarcasm, the need for bipartisanship in Congress. That's inches away from advocating compromise and incrementalism to achieve results. Coming from AOC, that's a pretty significant statement.

(6,820 posts)Lots of people don't get that 48+1=not a majority of 100. She was reaching out with an olive branch to those guys. My bet is that someone will scream that she threatened them with a stick.
Beastly Boy
(9,323 posts)If she is being polite now, she hasn't been before, and that's a significant shift towards the mainstream as well. Not long ago, she was pretty critical of bipartisanship.

(6,820 posts)The days when we didn't yet realize there are Democrats and then there are Democrats who sit and vote with Republicans. AOC do a bad by you? I see it more as her trying to throw out a flotation device for struggling Republicans drowning in trumpism's backwash. Hope she does well there. Too bad most senators pay little heed to lowly house members.

(9,323 posts)However her recent change of narrative is characterized, it's OK by me. As far as I am concerned, it's a sign of political maturity, and I welcome it. I was just wondering how the extreme left would take it.

(146,288 posts)It's TLAIB.
You might not think that matters, but it does matter.

(146,288 posts)So, it's not such a reliable source, perhaps. Since you did not link to the source, I have no way to know what that source is. But, I do know that the spelling of her last name is Tlaib.
Here is her official House of Representative page:
https://tlaib.house.gov/
That is as reliable as it gets for spelling. I'm not going to argue with you about it. Her name is her name. It is misspelled in your post. You should edit the post to correct the spelling in the title and body of the post.
