destroy what he wants, let him take what he wants
or not.
If the free world allows what he is doing to stand we are doomed. He will NOT stop at just Ukraine.
He isnt just a modern day fascist (yes, think Hitler) he is a modern day fascist with nuclear weapons which he says he WILL use if we interfere too much with his whims.
What he is doing is very much like what started world war 2. Hitler said just let me have this and Ill not take anymore. Well we all saw how that worked out.
Putin is a monster and monsters must be confronted and destroyed. Putin did NOT have to do what he is doing, it is a willful, unnecessary, choice which is destroying a nation and a people. It truly defines murder most foul.
He is going to escalate this soon. Right now he looks like an ineffective fool to the whole world. He will start mass murder through carpet bombing and massive artillery/missile strikes. His army apparently isnt capable of nuanced tactical warfare. That leaves only two choices, total war or go home.
Russia is an outlaw/rogue state that is no longer part of the civilized world. It is run by an individual whose sanity is clearly questionable. Its time for the underlings in Russia to step up or the rest of the world will (Must) do so. Time is not on our side.

(111,052 posts)Support "rebels" in Belarus or some other Russian state and distract the dictator from his present plans?
Or create chaos within their system of government in some way?
The options are very slim.

We need to sanction Russia to the max and help Ukraine to the max.

(30,613 posts)I don't think he's literally suicidal. But letting him have his way, now that would be suicidal.

(1,036 posts)if defeat and shame are his only other option. i'm not suggesting letting him have his way, but we need to be aware of the stakes. We can't afford to be wrong about this.

(10,100 posts)Sending in NATO forces to repel the invading Russians would be a solution, but escalation, possibly leading to a nuclear exchange, is a distinct possibility. Putin must be terminated by his own people before this situation gets out of hand.
