Same constant lies and propaganda.

Same attempt to defend amoral policies and autocratic form of government.

Life in Russia is deteriorating extremely rapidly. So many of my friends are packing up & leaving the country. Their cards are blocking. Huge lines for ATMs etc. Rumours that borders will close soon. “What have we done? How did we not stop him earlier?” said a friend to me yday

Blame the west and nato. They encouraged it and Ukraine played along. It would have been to everyone’s advantage for Ukraine to
get along with Russia but they rely on the west thinking eventually they’ll defeat Russia.

After Putin has launched his extermination war on Ukraine, Russians have provided him with +11 percentage point support.

„What have we done?” - This: (Image of kids sleeping in bomb shelter)

One of the buildings of Kharkiv university on fire, hit by Russian missile. One of the first universities in Russian empire, officially founded in 1805. I interviewed a pro-Russian academic here in 2014. Putin is now destroying “Russian world” he is claiming to protect.

My daughter and her family are leaving Friday. She said the Russians staying behind are freaking out because they are all losing their jobs and business once all the ex pats leave.

I’m in Istanbul Airport. Everyone around me is speaking Russian or Ukrainian and are calm. People keep trying to talk to me in Russian but I can only say a few things in it.

Silence is consent.

Most of the Russians I have spoken to are still in a state of shock. They never throught this would actually happen, like a lot of people, even though the writing has been on the wall the entire time.

After the Russians overwhelm the Ukrainian defenses, and regretfully, I believe they will. It will be the beginning of the Ukrainians war on Russia. Ukrainians have shown great patience in not already going after soft targets inside Russia. That won't be the case when the Russians occupy their country.

A proud people don't take that kind of thing, roll over, and welcome their enemies with open arms. The Russians will call the reactions "terrorism" and they will be right. There may be decades of violence within the borders of Russia. If I were Ukrainian, I would be determined to give them a dose of their own medicine, even if it cost me my life. After all, we are all going to die sometimes.

I take heart that the Russia/China agreement is not something that will last. It is an unnatural relationship. They are like two bears splitting the carcass of Democracy before they begin devouring each other.
