Much-Hyped D.C. Trucker Rally Turns Out To Be a Complete Joke

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Only a handful of protesters inspired by anti-vaccine mandate trucker convoys in Canada showed up in the nation's capital Tuesday afternoon for the “Stage of Freedom” event near the Washington Monument.

Despite the initial hefty estimate that upwards of 3,000 attendees would show, only 12 rally-goers had actually assembled for the gathering just hours ahead of President Joe Biden's State of the Union address Tuesday evening.

The right-wing rally’s organizer, MMA fighter and Maryland gubernatorial hopeful Kyle Sefcik, opened the gathering—where press and police massively outnumbered protesters—by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance before launching into a lengthy speech mixing shameless self-promotion with grievances aimed at the truckers who didn’t show up.

“I wanted to see with my own eyes what people were really about,” Sefcik said. “As you see, with the millions of hits and the hundreds of thousands of people that are behind the movement, there are still not people showing up and being about it!”

I wonder if someone can find out. It really looks like a lot of people were simply being paid to behave badly.

but those that do continue will converge near DC. One says it'll arrive on the 6th. Some pulled out yesterday, and I read yesterday about a couple that won't leave until the 5th. (?) Don't know what any of it's about or will come to. Most media are not covering them, waiting to see also.

Obviously, though, history is not going their way and it's not going to be what they hoped. Equally obviously, even a few big rigs could be worth cable and evening news segments deployed even halfway competently. And there will probably be more.

We'll get to see. I told my husband yesterday to leave a couple packets of popcorn for next weekend. No matter how many show up, interviews of these clueless doofuses will be comic relief compared to Ukraine. Just wish they could benefit from an enlightening journey through that country.

6. Talk about a protest that is lacking participants, eh? Maybe that might tell some of these

folks something? That perhaps something is not right, something is not what they are making it out to be, or that their issue(s) are not enough to get on everyday American's radar screens?

Too much hot air, too much grandstanding, too much of everything in excess by these proclaiming massive hurt, massive harm, serious grievances, all misdirected. If this was prompted/pushed to the forefront by tRump, then this ranks again as another pathetic failure in reading the American spirit, the American emotions that are swirling about all of us (Ukraine, other issues taking the spotlight).
