(18,745 posts)Seeing Rogan dropping N Bombs, he was doing it to show off, to be able to say, "Look at me, I can say that word because I don't give a F, and I have some black friends." You can hear the thrill in his voice when he was using that word.
Consequence Culture strikes again.

(5,707 posts)Bingo. He never grew out of that "Mommy says I can do what I want and you can't do anything about it" stage. None of these rightwank blowhards did.
I grew out of that stage once it was demonstrated to me that, in fact, people could do something about it. Helplessly begging shitheads to "be better" just empowers and excites them because it reinforces their "can't touch me" status; in almost* every case negative consequences are the only thing that will change them. Let them cry "Fascism!" into their tear-stained pillows.
*Once in a long while, there'll be a Robert Byrd or a Charles Johnson (of LGF--not the floorshitting gunstalker Furby) who has a conscience-based epiphany, but they're rare AF.

(1,000 posts)I totally believe in the free market. Run your mouth at will. What did Spotify pay Joe? How'd that work out for them? Yeah, he has his audience. And yeah, he says the ugly they wish they could. But does anyone really believe his audience wants to do better? I do not see this country reuniting.
It was a character test, and way too many people failed.

(11,535 posts)I was able to pick and choose from a huge back catalogue, and so was both entertained and informed by many of his guests. Serious, educated people, but often with an off-center take on things.
I admit, until pickings started getting slim and I started coming across low-information, sometimes bad-intentioned guests, I was fooled. But it wasn't long before I realized he was CLAIMING to be liberal, but has very few liberal views.
What I can't understand is how some really smart and even truly liberal people like Sam Harris seem to like him very much.
