(7,520 posts)Yes, some of what they said was wrong, such as how long a war would take. But I doubt they had information on how bad the Russian army is, and who knows how much our government knew about that. Also, some sanctions will take awhile to take effect. I appreciate former generals and other officials giving their take. I only saw one, Mark Hertling, who predicted a tougher slog for the Russian army.

Eisenhower, btw, had one of his biggest problems dealing with Monty, who had been scrambling with Rommel in North Africa long before Clark moved on Sicily. And years before Normandy.
