Philadelphia Police officers fatally shot a 12-year-old boy in the back Tuesday night in South Philadelphia, officials said Wednesday.

The boy, identified as Thomas Siderio, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and died minutes after he was shot.

According to a police statement released Wednesday, four plainclothes officers were in an unmarked car in the area of 18th and Barbara Streets at about 7:20 p.m. and saw two people standing on the street corner, one of whom appeared to be holding a handgun. When the driver turned on the emergency lights, the police heard gunfire and a back window of the police car shattered.

Police said two officers got out of the car and fired multiple shots at Siderio, who was holding a gun and began to flee. One of those officers chased Siderio and fired two times, striking Siderio in the upper right back area once. The bullet exited through Siderio’s chest, police said.

Of course there will be no body cam because they were undercover.

Nice copaganda though.

I have treated hundreds of cops here and some of the stories literally left me speechless. And they relate them with great pride and humorous banter…

...and if he really shot at police, I don't see where they had a choice, no matter if he was running away or not. It meant he had a gun and he was stupid enough to shoot it.

The problem is that cops have been lying so much, it is hard to just take there word for it.

That is why this culture of cops lying is so damaging to the good cops. It makes us not trust anyone.

1. These cops were undercover, who knows what these kids thought was coming after them.
2. There was zero information that this kid was involved in any projectile coming from a window.
3. They said he "appeared" to have a gun until they killed him. Where's the gun? What do witnesses say?
4. Unless this kid was actually armed and running and pointing it at the police, he was not an immediate threat. We have given too much power to law enforcement to kill people because they act like they're psychic.

We've become numb to the amount of police violence that happens every day.
Not that we don't care about it, but it's become so normalized.

...my caveats were that what the cops were saying is true.

If what they were saying is true, I think it was a justified shooting.

What if he had a gun, had shot at the cops (which were my prerequisites), he has then exhibited the use of deadly force and is running away.

He is then considered a threat to innocents as well.

Once again, if everything the cops said is true, they have to stop him before he shoots at anyone else.

It's copaganda. You get this side, using these words, and when the witnesses speak up it will be something completely different.

We see it over and over and over again.

Luckily for the cops there's no bodycam.

Or if there is, it'll be swept under the rug, or the cops will try to sweep it.

That police, or anyone for that matter, return fire when someone is shooting at you. The deceased minor was found with a stolen 9mm handgun, forensic evidence will in all likelihood show that he fired it at police.

It's tragic that a 12 year old's path in life led here, but by all appearances this was a legal use of force.

The anchor's comments at the beginning of the video.

Since when is a 12 year old a "young man"? It's part of that pathology a certain group has of construing you black folks (and especially males) as taller, older, stronger, etc., because of....well, you know.
