Tom Nichols said if Putin prays, he's probably praying for a NATO involvement, which would give him the fight he needs to rally the Russian people around him. As it stands, it's Putin against the rest of the world which leaves him in a bubble.

All that, and WW III...

The NATO countries can't supply Ukraine with everything they need, to do what needs doing, so long as the primary objective is avoiding direct conflict between Russia and NATO. Putin has told the rest of the world, "Mess with me and I'll do the unthinkable" giving him the power to do whatever the hell he likes.

Some pundits are saying it's time to call his bluff...

4. It sucks to be so helpless in the face of this evil.

But I remember quite well feeling the same when we, and I only say “we” as those things were done in our name, were unnecessarily and illegally obliterating Iraq and others. No one stepped in to stop us. They stood by or joined in. I feel horrible for Ukraine but not so much that I want to risk the whole world being destroyed in a nuclear holocaust.

It sucks but it is what it is.
