Has anyone ever sponsored refugees? If so how does it work?

I have friends who lived in Kyiv and left to Western Ukraine just before war broke out. I want to offer my house to them if that is possible. Can you sponsor a specific family? Not sure I want to take in anyone I don't know. They probably have family in Europe anyways, I just want to look into how the system works before offering my house to them or friends of theirs.

Thanks

Hi,
I just listened to the CEO of Air BnB on Arie Melbourne tonight. Since hurricane Sandy they have been offering homes for disaster victims, Nurses during covid. Now he is offering 100,000 temporary homes and more if people want to offer up their homes.

I cried when I heard.

Reputable and long established n.g.o. that works to resettle refugees. If you can’t work on their resettlement program, a contribution will also be welcome. I have been supporting them for decades.

US Committee for Refuges and Immigrants. They would know the process because they’ve been working with Afghan immigrants recently.
