White nationalists like Nick Fuentes are bragging that they have more influence in today's Republican Party than CPAC. And maybe they do.

The radicalization of the Republicans just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Already deeply enmeshed with the extremist far-right Patriot movement, the GOP is moving on to its next phase of being gradually overwhelmed by the seep of white nationalist ideas and organizing intent into their mainstream, as this weekends America First PAC convention in Orlando, Florida, demonstrated vividly.
As always, America Firsts founder Nick Fuentes provided his audience of Groypers their usual white nationalist red meat: praising Vladimir Putin, joking about Hitler, applauding Russias invasion of Ukraine, claiming that white people built America. But this year he was joined on stage by a number of elected Republicans who turned up as speakersincluding Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Arizona legislator Wendy Rogersand eagerly joined in. Rogers even called for a newly built set of gallows to hang Democrats with.

As Jared Holt of the Atlantic Councils Digital Forensic Research Lab explained at Daily Beast:

America Firsts mainstream traction reflects the disturbing trend over the past year in which rather than scattering for cover as their members and cohorts were placed under arrest, extremist-right factions have doubled down and hardened their responses, encouraged by Republicans insistence that the insurrection was simply legitimate political discourse.
What should be a widely condemned way of thinking linked to domestic terrorism and other forms of violence should never find a home among one of Americas major political parties, Beirich told Daily Kos. White supremacy was the justification for so many shameful eras in our history and the fact that Republicans are unable to condemn this barbaric ideology is incomprehensible. This is a dangerous development for our democracy.

(5,558 posts)I'd say it's easy to mix them well. White Man's Burden and "If you don't believe in Jesus, we'll torture you until you do or kill you and send you to Hell" were all things Christians have done For example, on a small scale in Salem, and on a large scale, the Inquisition.

(11,690 posts)It is a nice sentiment to think that "You can't be a White Supremacist and a Christian". The people who bombed the Baptist Church in Birmingham, I am sure were sitting in the pews of their own church the next Sunday. The KKK has advocated for a White Protestant America for decades. I haven't seen any church authorities excommunicate or expel members who promote White Supremacy.

White supremacy Putin/dictator love is not sustainable in one of the two major parties in this country. It can't and won't prevail, just as trump lost, the republican party will fracture and lose if they ignore this and don't move to stamp it out.
I think Milo found religion or some shit (I think he's saying he wasn't gay now??) and Shapiro has a podcast on Youtube I think. Not that I listen to either of them. As bad as those two guys are and yes they are bad, they are not near as repulsive as scumbags like Dinesh D'Souza.

(53,467 posts)As fu_ked up as the country is, these Putin loving, white supremacists, more visible now since being given license to emerge from under their rocks by trump, remain maybe 15-20 percent of so of the population if that. And even fewer of them vote.
And IMO they'll start to recede now that Putin has exposed himself to be even more of a vicious killer than thought with his invasion of Ukraine. These idiots liked him because the vast expanse of Russia is an overwhelmingly white country. Even though much of it is uninhabitable and California's economy easily outranks it.
Their worship of Putin and Russia is silly, and frankly, bordering on treason.

They will lose elections for a few years by splitting the party, but I think eventually the Nazis will slither back under their rocks and we will again have two authentic major political parties.

If their contributions from laundered Russian sources dry up?
If Russian troll farms don't immediately derail any intelligent debate?
If RW influencers lose millions of phony "followers" overnight?
If their wide-eyed devotees are no longer steered towards increasingly hateful internet groups and websites?
