Putin has reverted back to 1939. You can't pulled that shit off now without severe consequences.

(17,308 posts)You have to wonder if that is for real. Could anyone really be that stupid? (I mean, other than Republicans who have suggested something similar)
The world really wants and encore of people swinging from lamp posts in the wake of your army, Vlad. Such an action would be so stupid because it would inflame reprisals for a generation.

(25,896 posts)I should say, "if this is to be believed" because there is no confirmation at the link. Also, it's one thing to threaten and another to actually do such a thing.

(101,730 posts)I know, I know... Russia is a puclear Power, so don't get me started. I'm 60 miles or so from the first of a series of 1960s yet still quite active nuclear missile silos from Colorado through WY, NE, and the Dakotas, so no one needs to tell me what THAT means.
But, I don't think I can bear the evil Putin has in mind toward the innocent Ukrainian people.

But when the rich can no longer freely travel the world, Putin becomes an obstacle.
Oligarchs are quite adept at removing obstacles.

(25,168 posts)Where in Russia does he hide out? How is he protected? What kind of security detail guards him? How loyal are they? Are they loyal to him or the oligarchs?
Those long tables he sits at - I don't think they'll protect him - if he's really a target of the oligarchs.
It's going to be interesting to watch the end game of this military action that Putin has taken.
I wouldn't want to be Putin right now.
