Last September the US voted to give Israel 1 Billion for its missile defense system. However, Israel is unwilling to share or sell the technology to Ukraine. This is baffling. There is a democratically elected Jewish President whose country is being invaded by a totalitarian regime. This is wrong IMO. The people in Israel should demand that their government do more to help Ukraine.

Nice idea, but not practical.
Russia would capture the system and reverse engineer it and sell a work-around to Israel's enemies. Don't forget Russia is aligned with Assad in Syria.

(48,955 posts)Might take a long time. Putin might not live that long if his guard slips. Might be very soon if naysayers and anti-Ukraine traitors in GQP are right.
Regardless, Russia would say they are busy and if it is true it will be too late and if it is an idle threat, too little too late.
I stand with Ukraine and hope they triumph in the short term.

The chances of Russia completely occupying Ukraine is very high. Just in terms of mass, the Russians will most likely succeed militarily; it is just a matter of time. To succeed in the long term, Ukrainians, no matter how heroic they are, need a miracle, not a miracle weapon. I am hoping that something falls out of the sky on Putin's head; now that would be a miracle!

(803 posts)How can they not support Ukraine, a democracy in Europe, over the madman Putin who reminds one of the "real Nazi, Hitler". My mother and aunt are 94 and 88 years old, and were young teenage girls in Germany during the horror of WWII. They were not Jewish, however, my grandfather refused to join the Nazi party and was deprived of contracts and work for his business because of that. My mom and aunt are both very concerned that Putin is as deranged as Hitler became. You would think that Israel, of all countries, should empathize with and support the Ukrainian people.

(53,919 posts)They do! If you REALLY want to understand, read what is happening in Israel via the Israeli media and you will see there is MUCH support and concern for what is happening in Ukraine and to the Ukranian people. You will also learn why this situation is a high-wire act that many countries are not facing.
And why Israel, "of all countries"?
Desert grandma
(803 posts)Because Israelis understand what it is like when other countries refuse to acknowledge its right to exist. That is Putin's view. He obviously can not respect the fact that Ukraine is a sovereign nation and has a right to exist on its own terms, and not as a satellite of Russia. Putin's isolation has increased his deranged behavior, and possible mental illness.

(53,919 posts)Including, but not limited to, all former Soviet satellite countries, several African nations, and a few East Asian countries. Putin is deranged, that is indisputable at this point, I agree. But Putin, has a HUGE swath of allies at his beck and call, or at least are willing to do his bidding in other areas, including Syria and Iran.
Of course, some of the same people demanding Israel take this action or that one are some of the same ones who don't[/] recognize Israel's right to exist, so it really is a double-edged sword.

(53,919 posts)Do you even know what the Iron Dome is? I am guessing you don't, because if you did, you would know it would likely be ineffective, if not completely so, against a barrage of Russian missiles. The Ukranian ambassador has said as much. Israel is in a sticky situation as it has Russia on its borders too! Israel has been providing humanitarian support, but as evidenced by a few here, that isn't enough. Of course, they are the same people who would screech if Israel did get militarily involved and things escalated; it would be one more war they could blame on Israel.
It is amazing how...no, not even going to bother because it would fall on deaf ears.
