CEASE FIRE in Ukraine !!! Some areas to allow for refugees to leave

Negotiators agree to temporary cease-fire in some areas for civilian evacuation

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/03/03/russia-ukraine-war-putin-news/

MUKACHEVO, Ukraine — Ukraine and Russia say they have agreed to temporary local cease-fires to create “humanitarian corridors” so civilians can be evacuated and food and medicine can be delivered.

But the cease-fires would not apply everywhere, said Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak — and logistical details will still need to be agreed upon “in the nearest time.”

The development follows a second round of talks on Thursday afternoon, as local leaders warned about significant impacts to Ukrainian cities and as a mass exodus continues. More than 1 million people have fled Ukraine, according to data from the United Nations refugee agency — an exodus that is set to become Europe’s worst humanitarian crisis this century.

Until it joins the rest of the civilized world in condemning human rights abuses and respecting the rights of democracies around the world. The end of fighting in Ukraine and the removal to all troops should not be enough to end sanctions.

There are too many US politicians who receive money from Putin.
They don't want the money flow stopped.

It's good from a humanitarian perspective that they're letting civilians out safely, or at least they've agreed to that.

But militarily, that makes it all the more likely that they will not be deterred from their military objectives.

In short, this limited cease-fire makes a broad cease-fire less likely.

This increases the likelihood that Russia will go all out in their attack on the cities. They will use the excuse that they gave civilians enough time to leave and all that is left in the city are fighters.

Extra time benefits them because they can use that time to resupply with the constant stream of weapons coming in from NATO countries. Every day that passes is bad for Putin.

Good news for civilians who leave now, good news for our ability to help Ukraine defend itself

Bad news for peace anytime soon
Bad news for anyone hoping for a negotiated solution
Bad news for any civilians who don't leave now
Bad news as it means a more drawn-out and bloodier conflict.

Probably bad news overall militarily as I expect Russia to not stop until it has at the very least taken kyiv. The extra time won't prevent that, I don't think. It will merely delay it.

Ultimately, I expect Russia to take Kyiv, then negotiate to return it in exchange for easing of sanctions and the Donbas region, which was the basis for the pre-war propaganda anyway.

The first line should be the headline

And it seems this is more of an agreement in principle. When and were will the ceasefire go into effect?

But these people are still having to walk away from everything they have worked for.

Heartbreaking.

Look up the 2014 Ilovaisk Massacre: Russia promised safe passage for Ukrainian soldiers then ambushed them.

"When we passed their second checkpoint, they started shooting at us like in a shooting gallery. It was an ambush." https://newsweek.com/2014/11/14/battle-ilovaisk-details-massacre-inside-rebel-held-eastern-ukraine-282003.html

Putin is a liar, and his ministers are liars.
They're the type to cease fire until civilians gather to begin to leave, then have an "Oopsie" with a thermobaric missile as they're boarding the busses. Oh, sure - an over-eager captain will be blamed, but who cares?
He's an abusive ex - kill the pets to make a point.

And control by cruelty is the point with people like him.
