General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am upset because the US military, NATO, EU, etc., are not following my strategy
Even though I have no expertise in diplomacy, military tactics, or civil engineering, I am incensed that authorities ignore my ideas. Sure, I didnt study or work in those fields, but its insulting that my opinions are disregarded. Its very frustrating, having to relinquish control to a bunch of folks who think they know better than me, just because theyve spent their lives preparing and planning for conflicts like this. We all get a say, right?
In case its needed

(4,820 posts)I'm hoping the military starts opening up their planning sessions so we can tell them how to do it. Hell, I spent 4 years in the Army, I know a lot and they should listen.
Is it really needed?

(22,767 posts)Merrick Fucking Garland has a solid reputation. I trust him and that he's doing everything he can to make sure any cases against the former Oaf of Office are as airtight as possible. FFS, people! we've never prosecuted a former president for fraud and conspiracy to overturn an election before! This is all new ground! Let Merrick work!!

(36,248 posts)If I recall correctly, in the game Panzer Leader, one would place antitank weapons where they could cover avenues of approach and be hidden. A modern day Javalin team would do the same thing

People have a right to their opinions, and to try to justify those opinions.
What posts specifically are you referring to?
Caliman73
(11,725 posts)After that OP, linking to posts could likely be seen as a call out and get alerted.
There are posts around that decry the lack of direct military intervention into Ukraine.
SunSeeker
(51,511 posts)I have yet to see a post saying that we should put boots on the ground in Ukraine. There are posts that we should be doing more, sure, but virtually all Democrats in Washington are saying that.
Caliman73
(11,725 posts)No one overtly saying "boots on the ground" but people calling for "direct intervention" which means what exactly.
Similar to the arguments that "Democrats should do what Republicans do" then when you ask what that would look like, you get crickets.
So, I ask, "What does DO MORE look like?"

How dare anyone discuss what is going on currently on a political discussion board and have an opposing view of anything. We just need to stfu .

(15,147 posts)...of being right is when there's a lot of disagreement among the experts.
And even then, they'll only be right by luck, not actually by knowing what they're talking about.
It's painful, however, to watch all the horrible, pointless death and destruction, feeling powerless to make it stop.

(1,667 posts)I suppose posting here could be a problem for the networks with lower standards (looking at you OANN) but Im pretty sure PBS used to pay David Brooks for being wrong so who knows. Lets work on a strategy. You need to say something edgy about elitists spending all this time thinking about a problem and not just acting on their gut feeling. That always gets the people who spend their days in diners on your side. Maybe practice looking like youre constipated or going to wet yourself would help.

(3,635 posts)Thus, unlike in an autocracy, it's the citizens' duty to voice their opinions on national and international affairs. Being an 'expert' is not a requirement to participate in democracy. Most of the so-called experts did nothing for years while this conflict brewed.
EYESORE 9001
(25,908 posts)Every citizen need not be a diplomat or military maven, but its critical to elect leaders who have enough sense to follow the advice of the experts, once they have discerned which is the right way to go. Do we want a pompous ass who thinks he knows more than the generals calling the shots? I sure AF dont.

(11,612 posts)Why should anyone have a fucking opinion or ask questions when we are watching war crimes committed on live television. Shut the fuck up and don't voice it there are experts who know more than you. Don't ask what they know and don't question. You don't get a say so why should you go to an internet message board full of like minded individuals and express your feelings or concerns. STFU and know your role.
