Maybe we should stop calling subpoenas "subpoenas". Literally, I believe, the term means

"under penalty"---you are summoned to appear or face a penalty.

There does not seem to be any penalty that means anything unless you are one of us "little people".

If I ignore---or worse, flip off--- a subpoena, I would expect a "Rule" ordering me to appear on a specific date and time within two or three weeks to show cause why I should not be held in contempt of court and a warrant for my arrest to be issued if I again failed to appear. Continued open defiance and disrespect would get me some jail time.

Given the lack of respect the Trump loyalists show for what we've been calling subpoenas, maybe we should just rename them "legal paper thingies".
