It looks like the damage from large bombs. It is too devastating for rockets or missiles.
What weapons are they using on these people?
There are war crimes being committed. Not only by Vladimir Putin, but by his Generals and military leaders also. They need to know that eventually they will be held accountable, no different than the Nazi leaders from WWII.
They are a threat to the world. They are a danger to us all.
They must be stopped.

(4,356 posts)at least one thermobaric vacuum bomb. Maybe more since I heard about it. And I'm sure there are more barbaric weapons that we will learn about in the future. Just with the thermobaric bomb, Putin and his minions are war criminals. War crime tribunals are definitely called for in this instance.

(4,544 posts)I heard them discussed by one of the retired generals on MSNBC, too. He said they are designed to do as much damage as a small nuke, but they aren't nukes, so no radiation. What they do sounded horrific. And yes, they are illegal. War crimes.

(12,449 posts)We used them in Vietnam and Afghanistan and Assad used them in Syria, Russia used them in Chechnya.
Actually they were first used in WW2 IIRC.

(4,544 posts)I didn't say they were new, or that no one had ever used them before. Just verifying that this IS what they are using. The rest was what the retired general (forget which one) said on MSNBC. I'm no weapons expert, nor am I claiming to be. Just verifying what was said above according to what I had read and heard.

(12,449 posts)International law does not specifically prohibit the use of thermobaric munitions, fuel-air explosive devices, or vacuum bombs against military targets. Their use against civilian populations maybe banned by the United Nations (UN) Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), however they are not explicity listed.
Using a thermobaric weapon vs a civilian target is no more or less illegal than a 2000lb conventional bomb.

(4,544 posts)I do not wish to engage in any argument. There's enough of that going around. If what I heard was wrong, or I heard it wrong, so be it. I am NOT attached to any of this. As I said, I merely wished to confirm the previous poster's statement, and add what I had heard. THAT is ALL. And this conversation is done.

(15,286 posts)Russia is using cluster bombs where the container bomb bursts in the air releasing scores of smaller bombs that then fall to the ground and explode.

(2,807 posts)Called the warhead, sort of the key to the whole operation. No sense flying all that way not to have a big kaboom when it gets there. The U S Tomahawk missile has 1,000 lbs. of TNT in it's warhead, makes an ungodly kaboom.
Course it also could carry a 100 kilo-ton nuclear warhead.
KABOOM!
