Democratic candidate in South Dakota withdrew his candidacy for a U.S. House seat after receiving backlash from tweets he made from his personal Twitter account before he decided to run for office.
Ryan Ryder was running for the seat held by Republican Representative Dusty Johnson but pulled out of the race after being scrutinized for tweets that were "a poor attempt at sarcasm" and "humor" which "crossed the line," he told the Associated Press. Several of the tweets targeted Republican politicians in the state.
In one tweet from November, Ryder suggested he was thinking of "making an animated video of me killing Johnson's family, and then saying it was just a joke." In another post from July, Ryder joked about performing sexual acts to a picture of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Dakota News Now reported.
"A lot of these were basically just biting sarcasm, just flippant and rude," Ryder told Dakota News Now. "A lot of these had important context on them."

(15,286 posts)in written social media posts, tweets, etc, it's sarcasm and jokes. That's the reason the "sarcasm" emoticon exists.

Stupid begets stupid. And yes, smacks (rather, SCREAMS) "good ole boy club" and misogyny-despite my own contempt for Noem.
