Taking up arms and joining the fight. Matter of fact Ukraine is calling for just such International brigades. If you're so emotionally upset at the lack of US military response, maybe you'd be better off getting thyself to Ukraine posthaste.
Ukraine has plenty of small arms and ammo and they're paying civilians, ever foreign civilians, for joining the fight.

(7,314 posts)It's such a tragedy. Honestly, well coordinated and well equipped western forces could force out the Russians in short order. But it'll take many thousands upon thousands dying instead. My heart breaks. I hope my friends survive.

May God protect our troops overseas and those choosing to help Ukraine.

That fucking idiot probably has no clue of the stain associated with that badge, the atrocities committed by successive soviet leaders.

(478 posts)There are some VERY vocal proponents (keyboard commandos) of sending our young folks to die. I say put up or shut up! With that being stated...IF Putin moves on NATO, then all bets are off IMHO.

(11,631 posts)I have explored volunteer options and considered it. The article posted by Nevilledog I think yesterday about the Ukrainian Foreign Legion basically stated they can use you if you have prior military experience, but if you don't, stay home and donate to the cause.
I am critical that the US has not sanctioned Russian energy due to political expediency. I don't think the calculus of weighing democracy and civilian life in Ukraine versus the reaction to $6 gas at home is a valid choice. I know I will get blasted here because there are experts who know more than me making those decisions and I really DGAF.
